Our pendant lights, produced one at a time by glass artist Dan Mather, utilize a variety of clear and vibrant colored glasses permanently sealed to the exterior of scientific grade borosilicate glass tubing to create a stunning look not available from any other source.
Our colors, sourced from large mounds of colored glass 'rocks' weighing in at tens of thousands of pounds, are carefully selected for their clarity and density, and hand chiseled to develop a collection of 'chips' suitable for use on our pendant lights.
The process first involves cutting and polishing borosilicate glass tubes to the desired diameters and the required lengths of each client's unique application. Color schemes will be matched to each client's specific room and color palette, creating a set of pendant lights custom made in sizes large and small, in a suit of colors to suit each individual's tastes and each space's unique characteristics.
Once the colors have been decided and the core tubes cut, drilled, and polished, only a single row of glass can be added at a time, every 12 hours, to keep the glass in position without sliding off while curing. Because of this aspect of the process, pendants typically require 7-10 days to complete once the color process has begun. After the full color steps are complete, each pendant is then gone over again to add small chips to fill any gaps between the larger colored glass chips.
Cords can be cut to any length. A variety of metallic rayon colored cords are also available, as are a wide selection of ceiling canopy options if needed.
Enjoy browsing just some of the creative options shown below, and we look forward to helping develop a unique set of pendants made specifically for you and your space.
From 3.5" x 8" to 8" x 14", a wide variety of sizes can be created working within the parameters of the scale of your space. We also cut cord to any length in a range of colors, and can provide a variety of ceiling canopy options.
While solid colored pendants can be done, it's been extremely popular to blend colors. One of the more popular options has been to create a color 'family' in greens, blues, or our gold/topaz mix ("Smoldering Embers"), and then add an accent color to compliment any of the colors unique to your personal setting, making your pendant set a truly personal one of a kind fully functional piece of art.
Call me and let's make this happen for you.
